So a bedroom revamp is in order ... I'm sure you can't wait to splosh some paint around, get yourself a new bed, bed linen, bedroom furniture, funky lights, yadda, yadda, etc., etc., ...
... all of a sudden, the seemingly simple task of designing your new bedroom is growing to monsterous proportions!!
But fear not intrepid decorator, although a bedroom make-over feels like an enormous task, it isn't so hard really, once you're up and running.
A good night's sleep is the foundation of all happiness ... which makes the bedroom something of an important place, thus a proper job is desired / required.
Bedroom Furniture - Beds ...
 I've always started with the bed I've fancied and then built on that theme ... the bed is so central and dominant - unless you have a vast bedroom - that you must start with that or else you find your cherished bed just doesn't fit in, not so much sizewise but stylistically. So if you want a traditional Iron Bed for instance - something I'm very fond of myself for various reasons - you really need to run with white colours and lace and crisp linens. Going Funky is just too much of a contrast. Fortunately it is so easy to check out a few sites and suss their beds out. Once you've decided on the bed then pick your colours, personally I like paint, partly because papering is so tiresome. Choose a maximum of three colours - these should fit in with the style of your bed, old style colours for an old style bed, modern bright, whacky colour with a modern bed. Choose yourself the furniture keeping with the theme - keep it simple: bedside table, to put a lamp, hold a book, glass of water and so on. Wardrobes, if there aren't any built in - here I'd say you must get mirrored doors, at least a discrete subtle mirror if you've gone for a dark wood, but anything more modern in your theme and you'll be able to get away with full length and wide - there are so many advantages to this ... getting dressed and trying on different outfits becomes a breeze!! |
